Thanksgiving and our first snow!

We had a great first Thanksgiving with Layla! My parents came from Arkansas, and brought all the food. What a treat! My mom did all the cooking and brought lots of extra goodies too! Yum! They also brought Chopper with them this year :) He was pretty interested in Layla but she really did not care a thing about him. Kerry and Kathy came to eat with us and also Haley and Chase! Chase was so sweet with Layla, he is going to be a great big brother!
Last night we had our first snow of the winter. It was beautiful! We probably would have gone out in it last night but it ended up taking KJ 3 1/2 hours to get home! He actually got to leave early too but apparently everyone had the same idea :) We did go out this morning though. Of course Layla didn't really notice it much but at least we have documentation! :)

It's beginning to look a lot like.......

Well its not even Thanksgiving yet and i already have my Christmas decorations out! I just couldn't help myself :) I always feel like they are not up for very long and its my favorite holiday so i thought i'd just go ahead. KJ did not feel the same way but i think secretly he was glad i put them up :) Layla is almost 4 months old and I can't believe it! This past month has flown by. We had Layla's 3 month pics taken which i will post as soon as we get them back. I thought they turned out really good. We also had a baby bible presentation at church and Layla got her 1st little Bible. There were about 20 babies in all so she will have lots of future friends at church! We are so glad to be at a church with so many children. Its nice to know Layla will have so many friends to learn about God with :) Layla really likes to sit up and stand with my help and is constantly talking and smiling at us. She has a few little toys that she can hold on to, and she really likes laying on her blanket kicking and moving around. Here is 1 recent pic but lots more to come after Thanksgiving!

I love Fall! I hate allergies!

I am sooo glad we finally have fall weather in Nashville! All the leaves are changing and it is so nice to be outside right now. The only problem is KJ and I both have allergies. All 3 of us have basically been sick for 2 weeks now. KJ has been to the doctor twice already and Layla has been for a cold. We really thought she had an ear infection but the doctor insisted she didn't (still not real sure if she did or didn't :/) We have had to put off her 2 month shots twice now but hopefully next week she will finally get them. They seem to both be getting better now which is good, i just hope this is not how the entire fall season will be for us! Anyway, we have been spending the week at the farm because Haley and Chase are here, yay! Layla is really smiling a lot, at everyone! She is getting more fun for the cousins to play with her. We went to see the secret life of bees last night and it was awesome! I would recommend it to anyone, especially girls!!

really trying to sit up but not quite there yet!

1st trip to Arkansas

Layla and I went to Arkansas last week to visit my parents and friends that hadn't seen her yet. It was her first long trip and she did really well. She is a very good car rider so that helps a lot! We had so much fun visiting with friends, I think everyone loved her :) While we were there we decided to weigh her and see how big she had gotten since her 2 week appointment. She is almost 2 months now and she weighs 12 pounds!! I also tried to measure her length and estimated about 23 inches. She is growing so fast!! She has really started smiling a lot and even laughing a little. Here are some pics from our trip and from the diabetes walk we did with Kelli.

1 month!

Layla is officially 1 month old today! I can't believe how fast it has flown by! This past week Haley and Chase were in town so we spent a lot of time out at the farm. Chase loved Layla and wanted to hold her all the time! He was so sweet :) Lexi also could not get enough of her and was always making sure she had her paci in her mouth! We all enjoyed a nice long weekend for Labor Day. Layla watched her first UT game, although it did not turn out so good, sorry KJ :( We also went to church for the first time on Sunday and Layla slept all the way through!

All of the cousins, 1 every year so far!

Our 1st week!

We made it through the 1st week of being home with Layla! KJ was able to be off work all week and that was wonderful. We spent most of our time just trying to figure out her schedule. She has been a little confused about night time and day time but i think she is finally figuring that out :) Layla got her first bath and went on her first walk around the neighborhood. She doesn't like getting a bath except for getting her hair washed, she loves for KJ to rub her head! I feel like she has grown so much already!

curly hair right after her bath!

she loved riding in the backpack

Layla is here!

Since I am starting this new blog, i thought the best way to start it would be with our new baby! Layla Caroline was born on August 3, at 4:44 p.m. She weighed 8 lbs. 3 1/4 oz. and was 20 inches long. I know all new parents say this but we are truly amazed by her! She is the best gift in the world!
